The Board of Directors of the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Sarah Wells as Executive Director, effective January 5, 2015.
Sarah first joined the secretariat staff in 1995 as a manager with the Canadian Strategic Highway Research Program. Since that time, she has taken on positions of increasing responsibility and has served as Director of the association’s respected technical programs since 2008. During her nearly twenty years with TAC, Sarah has earned a reputation as a thoughtful leader who understands the transportation sector, the dynamics of national associations, and the interests of TAC’s members. She is committed to building on TAC’s strengths, providing value for our members and achieving progress towards our shared goals and objectives as the association heads into its second century.
Sarah earned an undergraduate degree and a doctorate in civil engineering from the University of Waterloo in the 1990s. Her graduate work focussed on transportation planning issues and was generously supported by a TAC scholarship, which provided her first introduction to the association. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in history from McGill University.
The Board was gratified by the interest expressed in the position by many highly-qualified candidates.

Sarah will succeed Michel Gravel upon his retirement from the association. Please join me in congratulating Sarah on her new position, and in thanking Michel for his many years of service to TAC.
