Structures Committee

Overview

This committee supports the Infrastructure & Asset Management Council. It is a centre of expertise within TAC and a national forum for information exchange and problem solving related to transportation structures including bridges, overpasses, tunnels, buried structural culverts, overhead sign structures, and retaining walls. Its broad goals include:

  • Identifying research needs in the area of transportation structures and the factors that influence their safety, performance, service life and sustainability through planning, design, construction, inspection, maintenance, preservation, rehabilitation and decommissioning activities
  • Managing and promoting research and guidance in the transportation structures area

The Committee meets in person twice a year, and by teleconference as needed. Meetings are open to all employees of TAC member organizations, individual TAC members, and others at the discretion of the Chair. Members and Executive

All TAC member organizations can appoint one or more members on this Committee. The current members of the Executive are:

  • Chair - Robert Simpson, New Brunswick Department of Transportation and Infrastructure
  • Vice-Chair - Kamran Ata, Government of the Northwest Territories Department of Infrastructure
  • Secretary - Azita Azarnejad, Jacobs
  • Past Chair - Michael Paulsen, Associated Engineering Group Ltd.
