Grant for Young Professionals in Small Municipalities
This award provides an allowance of up to $4,000 to help a young professional working for a small municipality participate in TAC’s technical meetings and annual conference. It is made possible through the generosity of Paradigm Transportation Solutions Limited.
Terms and Conditions
Applicants must:
- Be not more than 35 years old on December 31 in the year of the award.
- Be employed by a TAC member municipality with a population of less than 100,000 people.
- Not previously have attended TAC’s conference (excluding virtual events) and/or Fall Technical Meetings.
- Submit a CV and describe (up to 750 words) their work accomplishments, and reasons for wanting to attend TAC’s conference and technical meetings.
Applications are reviewed by a selection committee, which may not approve any recipient in a given year.
The recipient will:
- Attend the spring (online) and fall (in-person) meetings of the Small Municipalities Integrated Committee, as well as the TAC Conference & Exhibition, in the year of the award.
- Make a presentation on a work-related technical topic at the fall meeting of the Small Municipalities Integrated Committee.
- Submit a report (500 to 750 words, suitable for publication on TAC’s website and social media) by December 31 in the year of the award, with event highlights and comments about how participation benefited their professional development.
- Submit a post-conference claim for reimbursement of eligible expenses including conference registration, hotel accommodation, economy air/train/bus fare or car mileage, local transportation, and meals not supplied at TAC events (receipts are required for all expenses).
