The Transportation Association of Canada’s (TAC) Bookstore is THE source for roadway-related technical guidelines and best practices in Canada, including new versions of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Canada – Fifth Edition (2014) and the Pavement Asset Management Design Guide (2013).
Accessed via the Association’s website, the bookstore provides a brief sketch of the contents of over 200+ titles in English and French, with preferred pricing (up to 30% discounted) offered to TAC members. Free resources and tools for immediate download, including reports, primers, briefings and conference proceedings, are also listed. Users can enter the bookstore as a TAC member or shop as a guest at regular rates; they can browse titles by category, or use the search feature at the top right of the page.
Many of TAC’s publications are available in both hard copy and e-book formats. TAC's e-books include innovative features such as mobile accessibility and digital notation that can be synchronized across several platforms, as well as shared with other e-book purchasers.
E-books are EPUB Files
It is important to note that e-books sold by TAC are not PDF, but EPUB files. To use the e-books, purchasers first download the VitalSource Bookshelf application and may then download their e-book to a computer, access it online and on a mobile device (Apple or Android) like a smartphone or tablet. Users have the ability to insert notes into their e-book and even share the notes with others who have purchased the same e-book.
Syncing the e-book and any notes between workstations, online and mobile devices is done automatically. E-books include restrictions to allow copying/pasting/printing a maximum of 5 pages at a time in order to protect TAC’s copyright of the material.
Member Prices up to 30% Lower
TAC member prices are up to 30% lower than those offered to non-members. Member rates are automatically provided when a member enters the bookstore after having their status authenticated when they login. Quantity, and student discounts, are also available.
