New Initiatives Pay Tribute to Canadian Transportation

Thursday, June 19, 2014

As we approach the culmination of the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) 100th anniversary at TAC’s upcoming Conference & Exhibition, three new initiatives add to the excitement.

TAC’s centennial celebration campaign, Transportation 2014: Past, Present, Future, unveiled a new public service announcement (PSA) paying tribute to ten triumphs in Canadian transportation.

The PSA is available on the T2014 website in both official languages and will be aired on television stations across the country. This web section also contains photos and information about the ten triumphs spanning all modes of transportation, including the Trans-Canada Highway and the creation of the Transcontinental Railway.

One of the most anticipated T2014 events is the museum-style transportation showcase that will be held at the Palais des congrès, September 28-30.

For delegates and stakeholders who can’t visit the showcase in person, an online showcase compiling photos provided by TAC member organizations, has been posted on the T2014 website.  Photos will continue to be added in ten transportation-related categories right up to the culmination of the T2014 campaign, which coincides with the TAC Conference & Exhibition, September 28-October 1.

Written in honour of TAC’s centennial anniversary and the transportation community, a special monograph entitled The Evolution and Legacy of Transportation Education in Canada, sponsored by the Education and Human Resources Development Council, is now available.  This report is a free, downloadable PDF which can be found both on the Free Resources and Tools subsection of TAC’s website and in TAC's Bookstore.

More T2014 special activities are scheduled to be launched in the remainder of 2014, so stay tuned!
