  • IBI Group has welcomed Gerry Chaput to the firm as Director, Partnerships, following his tenure at Metrolinx in Toronto, where he served as Executive Vice President, Program Management. Also, Registered Professional Planner and Professional Land Economist, Audrey Jacob, has been named IBI Group’s Chief Operations Director, following more than 30 years with the firm.
  • International Road Dymanics Inc. (IRD) has acquired Sensor Line, a German-based Intelligent Transportation Systems provider of fiber optic traffic sensors for road and rail markets.
  • Ottawa-based transportation advisory firm CPCS has merged with First Class Partnerships (FCP), a transit consultancy in London, U.K. The newly combined group brings deeper expertise and independent strategic advisory services across the global transportation sector.
  • The Hon. Omar Alghabra has been appointed as the Federal Minister of Transport, taking over from Marc Garneau. He also serves as Member of Parliament representing Mississauga Centre.
  • The Hon. James Aylward was sworn in as P.E.I. Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure.
  • Mac Logan has accepted a position with WSP Canada as Manager, Transportation Planning, Western Canada.
  • Sany Zein has joined Jacobs as Vice President, Transit and Transportation, Western Canada.
  • Current Chair of the Transportation Finance Committee and longtime TAC volunteer, David Kriger, was awarded the A.M. Khan Lifetime Achievement Award by the Canadian Institute of Transportation Engineers.
  • TAC’s Chief of Engineers Panel has two new representatives; Terry Schmidt from the City of Saskatoon, and Alcide Richard with the City of Moncton.
  • Dr. Alan Clayton, Professor Emeritus, University of Manitoba has passed away.
  • Francis B. (Frank) Francois passed away on February 17 in Chicago at the age of 87. He served as the executive director of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials from 1980 to 1999.
