The new TAC publication Developing Highly Qualified Personnel for an Era of Connected and Automated Vehicles identifies critical gaps in the skillsets of Canadian road authorities, and recommends a number of strategies to overcome challenges posed by ongoing rapid change in both technology and mobility.
In this webinar, the report’s lead author will describe results of a gap analysis that found shortcomings in key areas including technical and non-technical practitioner skills, post-secondary curriculum design, access to job opportunities for new graduates, knowledge transfer within organizations, employee recruitment and retention, organizational silos, data governance, and equity, diversity and inclusion. She will also summarize 35 recommended actions that address three main goals: educating the future transportation workforce, training the existing transportation workforce, and improving human resources practices and agency governance.
