Description

Field Engineering/Project Coordination

  • Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent in project administration and field work
  • Provide technical engineering information and interpretation of plans, detail sheets and specifications for contractors
  • Report accurate quantities for labour cost reports and accurately monitor material ledgers to ensure quantities in estimate are sufficient to complete the project
  • Find solutions to conflicts in structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical drawings and specifications and follow-up with consultants and sub-trades to completion
  • Review, interpret and update construction schedules
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date shop drawings, track the status of RFI's, obtain quotations for notices of change, update and assemble as-built documents
  • Perform layout work competently, accurately and efficiently
  • Coordinate inspections, inspect falsework and monitor installation of rebar to ensure conformance to structural drawings
  • Ensure construction work complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications and design instruction

Description Transportation Analyst Intern

In this role, your duties and responsibilities will include:
  • Contributing to a variety of transportation engineering studies which include Parking Demand and Management, Transportation Demand Management, Active Transportation, Traffic Impact Studies, Corridor Studies, and Major Transit Station Areas, using a variety of transportation modelling and design software.
  • Conducting warrant analyses for a variety of transportation infrastructures including traffic signals, stop-controls, pedestrian crossovers, and turning lanes.
  • Collecting, analyzing, interpreting traffic data, and conducting assessments of multi-modal levels of service to assess traffic impact and contribute to strategies and sustainable transportation solutions.
  • Conducting travel demand forecasting, traffic modelling and graphical presentation.
  • Undertaking transit and traffic operational assessments and priority assessments.
  • Maintaining complete analysis of calculations records, statistical methods and project reports.
  • Assisting in research, summarizing technical findings for clients, stakeholders and authorities having jurisdictions, through the preparation of reports, memos, and presentations.
  • Other exciting transportation-related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in a Transportation-related study.
  • Interest to continue your career in Transportation engineering, planning and/or design.
  • Proficiency in numbers and standard MS Office Software (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented, and good problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of one or more of the Transportation Analysis/Modelling software (Synchro, SimTraffic, Emme, VISSIM, AIMSUN, TORUS).
  • Knowledge of one or more of the Transportation Design software (AutoCAD/AutoTURN, Civil3D, MicroStation, Inroads) is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of transportation engineering principles and jurisdictional design guidelines (e.g. TAC, MTO, OPSD, AODA), as well as provincial and municipality design standards, is an asset.
  • Familiarity with the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) transportation network is an asset.
