Division of Engineering Research on Call Agreement #31796: Task 8–Evaluation of Rock Channel Protection Design Procedures

Lundi, 22 Mars, 2021 - 15:00

A study was undertaken to investigate the source of the Ohio DOT culvert outlet protection design methodology and to compare this method with other State DOTs and FHWA methodologies.  The original source of the Ohio DOT methodology was long thought to be a study conducted by The University of Cincinnati (Laushey, 1966).  However, a meaningful correlation between the two could not be established. When comparing the Ohio DOT methodology to other State DOT’s and FHWA methodologies it is concluded that the Ohio DOT methodology is neither conservation nor unconservative. This report is available online from the Ohio Department of Transportation web site at https://www.dot.state.oh.us/Divisions/Planning/SPR/Research/reportsandplans/Reports/Final%20Reports/Final%20Report%20Task%208%20SJN%20135786.pdf
