TAC’s Mobility Council had 36 attendees at its spring meeting.
Guest presentations
The Council heard presentations from Marie-Soleil Cloutier of the CapaCITY/É research team on sustainable transportation infrastructure, and from Elora Wilkinson and Matthew MacEachern of the Halifax Regional Municipality on the Cogswell District Project.
Technical projects
The Council approved the withdrawal of two projects from TAC’s list of projects in development:
- Curbside Charging for Electric Vehicles: Synthesis of Practice
- Alternative Financing and Procurement Models for Major Transportation Projects in Canada: Lessons Learned
TAC continues to seek funding partners for “Active Transportation Facilities at Interchanges: Synthesis of Practice,” a project developed by the Council.
Committee updates
The Council received updates from its four committees.
The Active Transportation Integrated Committee meeting attracted 62 participants, who discussed working group activities, new volunteer projects and 2025 conference sessions. A presentation was received from Darren Kropf and Steve Allen of the City of Kitchener on its implementation of continuous sidewalks and bike paths.
The Mobility Management Committee meeting attracted 32 participants, who enjoyed a presentation from Mehdi Nourinejad of York University on transit electrification planning and operations. Attendees also discussed the progress of working groups focusing on curbside management, mobility service data, transit service delivery and transportation demand management.
The Transportation Planning Committee held a meeting with 40 participants. It heard a presentation from Eric Miller of the University of Toronto on an integrated approach to transportation and housing. Attendees then followed up with a discussion on working group activities, membership, and new initiatives.
The Transportation Finance Committee held an abbreviated meeting during which 11 participants discussed upcoming 2025 conference sessions. The committee continues to focus on framing key issues in transportation finance, mobility pricing, transportation infrastructure financing, transportation investment planning, and transportation system funding.
