Year-end Message from the Executive Director

December 18, 2025

We’re almost ready to call it a wrap for 2025, and what a year it’s been! Despite some challenges in global political, social and economic environments, the remarkable dedication of the TAC community shone through as we continued to work together to improve transportation infrastructure, systems and services for Canada and all Canadians.

Sarah Wells

New publications were released, technical projects progressed, training courses and webinars were offered, and hundreds of council and committee meetings were held. TAC’s revamped volunteer centre was launched, and for the first time, an online open house was held that promoted transportation as an attractive career path for students. And of course, another successful Conference & Exhibition was held in beautiful Quebec City, drawing a large crowd of transportation professionals, sponsors and exhibitors together for productive exchanges and networking.

I am grateful for the contributions of TAC members, volunteers and staff that made it all possible.

The year ahead looks promising, too. In 2026, we’ll see our learning program grow with the addition of training courses on the foundations of road design. New digital delivery options for some of TAC’s publications will be studied.

More technical projects will be expedited to deliver valuable resources for Canadian practitioners. In October, we’ll meet again for another edition of TACConf, this time in Winnipeg — the geographic heart of the country. There, conversations and presentations on our theme, Transportation for a Strong Canada, will be inspiring and motivating for us all.

The TAC office will close at noon on December 24, and we’ll be back at our desks ready to serve members and customers by January 5, 2026. In the meantime, on behalf of the staff and the Board of Directors, please accept our best wishes for the holiday season and peace, health, and happiness in the new year.
