Centrally located within urban southern Ontario, Brampton is Canada’s 14th largest city, and the third largest in the GTA. With the second highest rate of population growth among Canada’s 20 largest cities, Brampton is expected to grow from a 2004 population of 387,000 to 680,000 over the next 25 years. Projections based on current rates of growth anticipate buildout to the urban boundary within ten years, some five years sooner than previously expected. During this time, Brampton will be second only to Toronto in terms of absolute growth, within the GTA.
