iNET® – Smart Mobility Solutions

For decades, Parsons has helped the world move smarter through its iNET® Smart Mobility Platform, ATMS software that municipalities, cities, and states use to enhance the livability of their communities. Real-time data from cameras and sensors is collected and analyzed to detect incidents and manage traffic, optimizing the transportation network to get people to where they need to be. By applying state-of-the-art operational solutions and leveraging artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML) and new virtual traffic operator capabilities, Parsons iNET® helps agencies improve the management, efficiency, effectiveness, and safety of transportation networks big or small – whether freeway, highway, toll road, transit route, tunnel, or arterial road. This presentation will provide an overview of the iNET® platform and three real-world case studies.

Leading the Design of the Gordie Howe International Bridge Project: Integrating Civil and Municipal Design Excellence

Explore the record-breaking design solutions behind the Gordie Howe International Bridge, the largest infrastructure project along the Canada-U.S. border. AECOM, the lead designer for the design-build team delivering the project, will showcase collaborative efforts that are overcoming the broad range of civil engineering challenges to enable a seamless new connection over the Detroit River. AECOM will showcase the project’s vision, design challenges, and innovative solutions implemented for the main span cable-stayed bridge, the approach bridges, and the transportation infrastructure within each port of entry, enabling direct connections to Interstate 75 in the U.S. and Highway 401 in Canada.

About the presenters:

Scott Davis, P.Eng., Manager of Transportation at AECOM, has 30+ years of diverse experience in bridge design and project management. He has led multidisciplinary teams to successfully deliver major transit and highway projects with challenging construction schedules.

Barry O’Connor, P.Eng. is a Project Manager at AECOM with over 17 years of experience in transportation, civil, utilities, and municipal design and project management. He has led the design of civil components for major transit and transportation projects, utilizing both traditional and alternative delivery models.

Road and Port Expansion for the Global Markets

Hatch was retained as Prime Design Consultant on Vancouver Fraser Port Authority’s award-winning Centerm Expansion Project. This project enhances the existing terminal to meet the rising demand for container shipping, increasing throughput by 66% to 1.5 million TEUs while expanding its physical footprint by only 15%. Upgrades included revising the terminal layout, provision of new equipment and remodelling an historic building to a state-of-the-art operations centre. Key to the increased throughput was also improvement to offsite logistics, namely rail and road upgrades. This included a road overpass designed and constructed within a very tight corridor to separate rail and road traffic, eliminating delays and increasing traffic capacity. Extensive collaboration with third party stakeholders was successfully undertaken to minimize disruption and impacts to existing infrastructure. The project achieved Envision Platinum and LEED Gold certifications and involved many innovative solutions to maintain terminal operations throughout the construction phase.
