Competing Interests – Implementing Change in Mississauga

Abstract

The City of Mississauga is at a cross road and is transitioning from a suburb to an urban centre. We are implementing LRT, BRT, Cycling facilities, Accessibility and Place making. The change from moving Traffic to moving People and Goods is a challenge, particularly when most of the change is retrofit. This paper will highlight the changes that are happening in Mississauga and will focus on the competing interests and how the change management is being handled. It will also highlight the geometric design challenges being faced by road practitioners.
