This report includes the findings of an in-depth literature review of technical and local resources from across Canada, a case study review, a series of interviews with agencies and municipalities, and a survey of practitioners. While the foundations of many locally used resources are rooted in the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) Geometric Design Guide for Canadian Roads (GDG) Chapter 8 principles, adaptations are commonly made to align access management practices to local contexts. While the review confirmed that the guidance in Chapter 8 was generally comprehensive, there were several emerging practices that warrant further consideration in a future update to Chapter 8.
