TAC Launches New Webinar Program

Wednesday, January 13, 2016

The Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) is now offering webinars as part of its expanded Events and Learning Program, which also includes TAC events and seminars.

Webinars are short (usually 60 to 90 minutes) presentation sessions, led by one or more experts, that take place over the Internet. They are offered live, in real-time, or via recordings of previously-held webinars. Webinars are a low-cost, convenient learning option.

Webinars will feature several types of topics, including:

  • content from, or discussion about aspects of TAC’s national guidelines, best practices, reports or technical projects;
  • case studies and examples of real-life transportation solutions implemented by jurisdictions across Canada;
  • information sessions where participants explore issues and provide feedback on current work or projects.

Scheduled on February 4, Building a Road Safety Action Plan for Your Municipality will help agencies develop a road safety action plan for their jurisdictions, to help prevent road traffic injuries and death. The webinar will describe multi-disciplinary approaches including, but not limited to, engineering, education and enforcement. It will consist of three presentations which will describe the principles and an evidence-based process of identifying of road safety strategies, targets, actions, road safety partners and evaluation metrics.

Register early as space will fill up quickly!

Other webinars currently being planned for 2016 will focus on geometric design, roundabout design practices, and TAC’s Canadian Guide for Greener Roads, among others.

If you have a topic that you would like to be considered for a future webinar, please review and complete the Webinar Proposal Form on TAC’s website, where a draft title, outline, target audience, and other information is requested. All proposed webinar topics will be forwarded to the most appropriate TAC committee for review. The committee review will consider alignment of the topic and its learning objectives with the committee’s mandate and priorities, and availability of appropriate presenter(s), among other factors.

Introducing TAC Tuesdays

As well as the types of topics mentioned above, a series of free, monthly webinars providing information on the Association’s products and services, under the banner TAC Tuesdays, is being offered. The first TAC Tuesday webinar took place December 15, and featured information on TAC’s Library services and how to access quality research. Other TAC Tuesday webinars will provide overviews of how TAC’s Pooled Fund Projects work; understanding and using TAC publications and resources; the conference Call for Submissions process, and more.

Descriptions and schedules of all confirmed TAC webinars are posted online.
