An Introduction to Spectroscopy for Pavement Engineers

Lundi, 4 Mai, 2020 - 13:45

Spectroscopy, which is a study of interactions between matter and electromagnetic radiation that has been around for decades, provides a way of analyzing materials. Its methods can tell us exactly what a material contains and can produce unequivocal results that make it possible for highway agency personnel to quickly determine whether a material is or is not as expected or specified. Advancements in spectroscopy have been made in recent years, resulting in the availability of handheld instruments that can be used in the field. These instruments require minimal training and are fast, providing results within a few minutes.
