The Project Manager, Transportation delivers projects which advance the goals of the Transportation Planning and Engineering division. In particular, we are seeking a candidate with experience completing environmental assessment studies for new transportation infrastructure. In addition, the Project Manager may be asked to deliver: transportation planning studies to identify and recommend future transportation infrastructure, active transportation and micromobility feasibility studies, creating new and modifying existing transportation policies, reviewing and advising on transportation analysis results for City-led, third-party led and development-led projects, and implementing public engagement, communication and education projects to empower citizens to choose their preferred mode of transportation.
Qualifications |
• Minimum five years of experience in a transportation planning and/or engineering field.
• A Professional Engineer (or equivalent) or Registered Professional Planner (or equivalent). • Thorough knowledge of transportation planning principles, concepts, practices, methods and legislation in one or more fields (e.g. traffic operations, travel demand forecasting, active transportation, street design, environmental assessments, policy, etc.) • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and manage complex problems, utilizing innovative solutions where warranted. • Strong project and time management skills to meet program objectives and tight deadlines. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work within a team environment and • Computer literacy utilizing MS Office software applications and knowledge of software relevant to technical specialty. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reports and internal communications. • Knowledge of, and demonstrated ability in, the City’s core competencies and relevant functional competencies. • Valid Class “G” Driver’s License with access to a reliable vehicle to use on corporate business. • Project Management Professional designation would be considered an asset. • Standard office environment (hybrid at home/at work). • Attendance at City Council meetings and special committee meetings, as required. • Attendance at public information centres and other engagement and outreach activities, as required. • Ability to work outside regular working hours, as required. |
