As a Pavement Engineering Analyst, you’ll be responsible for supporting and enhancing the department’s pavement management system through data-driven analysis, testing coordination, and strategic collaboration. Your work will directly inform critical decisions around pavement rehabilitation programs, design standards, and load restrictions. This position is ideal for someone who thrives on precision, enjoys working with advanced pavement performance data and software systems, and values collaborative problem-solving.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Leading and coordinating annual Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) testing programs to evaluate structural pavement performance
- Assisting in the preparation of project Terms of Reference and managing pavement deflection testing contracts Updating and organizing pavement as-built cross-section data for system integration
- Validating International Roughness Index (IRI), rut, and distress data for maintaining pavement condition accuracy
- Maintaining quality assurance records and supporting audits with clear documentation Updating pavement network inventory and managing system-related issues in TIMS
- Participating in system testing and enhancement reviews for PMS and TIMS software updates
- Managing data loading, model calibration, and decision tree updates within the pavement management system
- Coordinating consulting contracts, verifying deliverables, and managing project communications
- Collaborating across departments to resolve data-related challenges and support ongoing pavement evaluations
Qualifications
Required:
- University degree in Civil Engineering, PLUS 5 years related experience or equivalent as described.
- ligible for membership with the APEGA.
Equivalency:
Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of additional 1 year of education for 1 year of experience, or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
The successful candidate MUST have:
- Experience in pavement engineering, performance evaluation, or data management in an engineering context
- Familiarity with pavement condition metrics (IRI, rutting, distress, pavement deflection), and data quality assurance practices
- Proficiency with engineering data systems (e.g., PMS) and common software tools
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in MS Excel functions such as pivot tables and look-up functions
