Reporting to the Director, Member Services & Communications, you will design and create digital, multimedia and print products to support the organization’s marketing, communication, branding and publishing needs. You will help transform the technical work and priorities of the Association into a visual story that resonates with our staff, volunteers, members, partners and stakeholders.

Having a can-do attitude, being a communicative team player, and a willingness to be a ‘jack of all trades’ from a creative design perspective are essential for this role. You will be part of a small and inter-reliant staff team that values initiative, problem-solving and work-life balance as we cooperate to deliver the Association’s products, services and events. The position’s main responsibilities are:

  • Graphic design and production, including producing creative and innovative design solutions using both written and visual elements, following established branding and content protocols. Products may include still images and motion graphics for websites, social media, and presentations as well as print-ready high-resolution files for reports, brochures and flyers, advertisements, signage and trade show displays. You will liaise with production suppliers as required to ensure the timely delivery of products. Intermediate to advanced skills are required.
  • Website oversight, design and content maintenance for two WordPress sites. Intermediate to advanced skills are required. Website design or development abilities are considered an asset.
  • Desktop publishing a handful of technical documents and publications annually. You will finalize draft documents (usually based on an MS Word template and occasionally Adobe InDesign), prepare them for publishing in print and electronic formats, and liaise with external suppliers to transfer the master files and proofs. Intermediate to advanced skills are required.
  • Video production using images, B-roll, and other digital files. Basic to intermediate skills are required.
  • Email marketing, including template design and potentially being involved in writing and deployment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

You will bring:

  • A diploma or degree in graphic design, web design, digital media, advertising/marketing/communications, or an equivalent field.
  • At least three (3) years’ experience working in a related team environment developing and delivering concepts and products for at least two (2) of: print or digital publications, websites, infographics, videos, and multimedia presentations.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including creating documents and templates in Word and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in WordPress (including Elementor and Gravity Forms) and knowledge of HTML.
  • Experience and proven competence in print and web graphic design, layout, desktop publishing and production to produce print-ready high-resolution and screen-ready files.
  • Strong project management and organization skills to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated creativity, flexibility, and the ability to receive and give constructive feedback.
  • Excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills.
  • The ability to work as a member of a cross-functional team, liaise with colleagues in other departments, as well as with outside agencies or suppliers.
  • Enthusiasm for learning new software and technology platforms.
  • Good judgment and reliability.
  • Also considered assets are:
    • Experience establishing and maintaining a visual brand identity.
    • Experience in e-marketing, especially in the design or deployment of email newsletters.
    • Experience with website analytics and SEO.
    • Bilingualism (English/French).

 

 

Salary and benefits

This is a full-time position with a salary of $67,500 to $77,500 per year, plus a comprehensive benefits package, generous paid annual leave, a pension contribution matching program, health group benefits, and professional development opportunities. This salary and benefits are offered in exchange for an eight-hour workday (e.g. 8:30 to 4:30 or similar), Monday to Friday, in a pleasant office environment. (The ability to work from home up to two days per week may be arranged.) Travel and overtime/weekend work may be required once or twice per year.
