Saying farewell to past TACF board members and welcoming new ones

Every spring, the Transportation Association of Canada Foundation (TACF) Board of Directors meets to discuss plans for the upcoming donor and scholarship program. At the beginning of the meeting, President Gerry Chaput was thrilled to inform the group that to date, $76,000 had been successfully committed to supporting our industry’s scholars. This is just the tip of the iceberg of what the Foundation plans to achieve. Fundraising opportunities run all year long and we plan to continue our efforts across all provinces and make the choice to donate an easy one by providing value to donors.

The Foundation is constantly looking to improve the program and welcomes new ideas from the industry to best serve our contingency. Some ideas to note were themed scholarships, such as sustainability or innovation scholarships, to further support and promote our donors in the areas of their business.

Other key areas that were discussed in the meeting include:

Communications Action Plan. Plans to broaden the Foundation’s communication strategy through multiple tactics and channels will achieve more visibility and engagement with supporters and students. A particular focus on the TAC Conference will include a more prominent presence and messaging to recognize past and present donors and celebrate student recipients. Stay in the know by following the TAC Foundation’s LinkedIn page.

In other news, we recognized the past efforts of one board member who is stepping down but will always be an honorary member, Susan Tighe, Provost and Vice-President at McMaster University. Susan was a valued and loyal board member for the past 6 years. Thank you for your time and dedication to the TAC Foundation.

We also welcomed two new board members to the Foundation, no strangers to the transportation industry, David Hein, Pavements Engineers, retired and Keri-Ann Hobson, Marketing and Communications Leader at GHD. View the complete list of board members.

The Foundation looks forward to another active, exciting year working together to future-proof the Canadian transportation industry.
