TAC Spring Technical Meetings – Mark your Agenda

Tuesday, February 10, 2015

The Transportation Association of Canada (TAC)’s 2015 Spring Technical Meetings will be held at the Ottawa Marriott Hotel, April 15-21.

The Association’s second-largest annual event offers excellent technical information exchange and valuable networking opportunities. Meetings are open to all TAC members unless otherwise indicated in the program. Participants should check the program before arriving in the Nation’s Capital as a few meetings will be held in locations other than the Marriott. TAC’s Board of Directors will meet on Monday, April 20.

Meeting participants are encouraged to attend two key events:

1)      Friday, April 17, 11:30-13:30: A joint luncheon hosted by TAC and the National Capital Section (NCS) of the Canadian Institute of Transportation Engineers (CITE). 16 Avenue and 19 Street NE Interchange Study, will be delivered by Watt Consulting Group Transportation Manager, Alf Guebert. Mr. Guebert will present the study for a new interchange in the City of Calgary. The presentation will acknowledge existing conditions and constraints, describe the public engagement process, identify stakeholder issues and provide an overview of the technical analysis of the preferred option. A simulation of the preferred option, highlighting the operational characteristics of the recommendations, will follow.

The registration fee is $30 for NCS Chapter Membership holders and $35 for non-members. Interested participants may register online or visit the TAC Office onsite on Thursday, April 16 until 6:00 p.m.

2)      Saturday, April 18, 18:00-21:00: A member networking reception will include brief remarks by TAC’s President, Gerry Chaput.

Confirm your Attendance

Although no registration fees apply to attend the meetings, TAC council and committee members must confirm their attendance by completing a brief form online. Non-committee TAC members are asked to confirm their attendance by emailing meetings-reunions@tac-atc.ca.

TAC attendee rates are available at the Ottawa Marriott Hotel for those booking by March 15, as well as discounted air fares with Air Canada, Porter or West Jet. The block of rooms may be filled before the deadline, in which case available rooms will be charged at the hotel’s discretion. Discounted ground fares are also available with VIA Rail and Avis.

TAC Technical Meetings Partnerships

Participants attending TAC’s Spring and Fall Technical Meetings are key players in the transportation and roadways sectors in Canada. Organizations seeking opportunities for visibility at these meetings can choose to become a TAC Partner. This opportunity includes recognition on centrally-located meeting signage, the meeting program and e-blasts to TAC committee members, as well as the opportunity to provide corporate material to meeting participants.
