TAC Seeks New Committee and Council Members

Thursday, February 4, 2021

TAC’s work is guided by the volunteer members of our committees and councils. When TAC updated its volunteer structure early in 2020, some groups experienced a fundamental shift in their purpose, structure or operation. Several are now looking for new members to help meet their goals.

Remember, it only takes a few hours each year to make a difference as a TAC volunteer. Prior involvement is not a requirement, and we invite practitioners of all ages and backgrounds to bring their knowledge, experience and enthusiasm. Getting involved with TAC is a great opportunity to learn about what’s going on elsewhere in Canada, help identify and address important issues and be a part of a community of transportation professionals. Previous volunteers have reported benefits including technical knowledge, leadership skills and professional networks. The first step is as simple as attending an online meeting.

Contact us to find out more about the rewards and responsibilities of being a TAC volunteer, or to express interest in joining one of the following:

  • Climate Change Integrated Committee -- This committee needs more climate change mitigation and adaptation specialists with expertise in climate programs, to support informed interaction with many other TAC committees.
  • Mobility Management Committee -- This committee needs more emerging mobility practitioners in areas like shared mobility services, multimodal service data and pricing, curbside management, last-mile goods movement, and transportation demand management.
  • Workforce Development Council -- This council needs more academics, professional development specialists and human resources practitioners to help guide its work and transfer knowledge back to their organizations.

Finally, note that TAC committee and council meetings are open to all employees of TAC member organizations. If you have colleagues who fit one of the descriptions above, please send them this article and encourage them to consider getting involved.
