TAC Approves New Multi-Use Trail Crossing Ahead Sign

Thursday, October 9, 2014

A multi-use trail crossing ahead sign has been approved for inclusion in the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Canada (MUTCDC), following a project by the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC).

The project was completed under the auspices of TAC’s Traffic Operations and Management Standing Committee.

The Multi-Use Trail Crossing Ahead sign indicates to drivers that they are approaching a location where a multi-use trail for motorized and non-motorized users crosses the road. The new sign is number WC-27.

Due to the introduction of this new sign, a wording revision is required for the existing sign WC-46, Pedestrian and Bicycle Crossing Ahead sign, referenced in both the MUTCDC and TAC’s Bikeway Traffic Control Guidelines for Canada, Second Edition (2012).

MUTCDC updates will be prepared by the Editing and Publication Subcommittee.  A release date has not been determined at this time.
