Friday, November 14, 2014

The Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) has created special awards in recognition of the United Nations’ Decade of Action for Road Safety.

The 2015 Decade of Action Road Safety Awards recognize Canadian road safety contributions that stand out as being forward-thinking and/or providing leadership in one or more of the five pillar areas of the United Nations Decade of Action.

  1. Road Safety Management
  2. Safer Roads and Mobility
  3. Safer Vehicles
  4. Safer Road Users
  5. Post-crash Response

Awards are open to both individuals and all types of organizations. Nominations should clearly articulate how the contributor is bringing about change for road safety in Canada in one or more of the five pillar areas.

A nomination may be made by submitting the Project Abstract Form located on the TAC website by December 19, 2014. Authors of accepted abstracts will be contacted by January 15 and invited to send full submissions to TAC prior to 15:00 EST on February 13, 2015.

Final results will be communicated to nominees at the end of June 2015. Awards will be presented during the 2015 TAC Conference and Exhibition in Charlottetown, PEI, September 27-30. Winners and other nominees may be asked to present during a special session at the conference to highlight the awards.

Questions regarding these awards and the submission process may be directed to Luay Mustafa at lmustafa@tac-atc.ca or 613-736-1350 ext. 231.
