NEW! TAC Online Training in Road Safety

Monday, October 17, 2022

There is a tremendous interest and need among Canadian transportation practitioners for quality road safety training. In 2016, a survey found that only 37% of road safety practitioners in the TAC community had taken road safety courses before starting their practice. The survey also found almost all road safety practitioners were interested in training opportunities, particularly in scientific and analytical estimation methods.

TAC is pleased to offer Road Safety for Canadian Practitioners, a new in-depth online training program. It is the result of a partnership with ITE Canada and was developed by a team of Canadian road safety experts with the support of TAC member organizations. The program’s scope addresses and exceeds the material covered by the Road Safety Professional, Level 1 (RSP1) certification examination of the Transportation Professional Certification Board. It includes five courses:

  • Module 1 – Foundations of Road Safety
  • Module 2 – Measuring Safety
  • Module 3 – Human Factors and Road Safety
  • Module 4 – Solving Safety Problems
  • Module 5 – Implementing Road Safety Programs

“TAC is very excited to offer this comprehensive online training program in road safety. Drawing on our deep roots in Canada’s road safety engineering community, the Association’s collaborative process has created an unequalled learning opportunity for practitioners.”
Sarah Wells, Ph.D., P.Eng., Executive Director, TAC

“ITE Canada (formerly CITE) is proud to be partnering with TAC to support this important training initiative. It is a testament to how the strong partnership between our organizations can advance our shared vision for safe and healthy mobility in Canada.”
Ryan Vanderputten, P.Eng., City of Calgary & President, ITE Canada

These courses are now available for purchase, either individually or in a discounted bundle, by TAC members and non-members alike. Once registered for a course, learners can access TAC’s new Online Training Centre with a single click from their TAC Online account.
