Catch up on TAC member organizations – leaders in the transportation and road-related industries.

The University of Waterloo has been named Canada's most innovative university for the 23rd consecutive year in Maclean's magazine's annual ranking of universities.  In addition to this honour, Dr. Susan Tighe, Civil Engineering Professor and Canada Research Chair in Sustainable Pavement and Infrastructure Management at the University of Waterloo, was listed among the ten most influential people that attended the university.  Dr. Tighe has worked on infrastructure projects around the world, and oversaw the creation of the 2013 Pavement Asset Design and Management Guide for the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC).

The Canadian National Committee of the World Road Association (PIARC), in partnership with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, has developed a national report about optimizing road infrastructure investments and accountability in Canada. The report was prepared in response to an invitation from PIARC to member countries to submit national reports on each of the strategic themes in 2012-2015. Transport Canada provided financial support for the associated consultant work that was undertaken as an additional component of an ongoing related Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) project. The initial results of the 2014 TAC survey were used to prepare the report.

New West Partnership, created in 2010, has brought Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia into an unprecedented and historic partnership establishing an economic powerhouse of more than nine million people with a combined GDP of almost $550 billion. Premiers Brad Wall (Saskatchewan), Jim Prentice (Alberta) and Christy Clark (British Columbia) met on November 6 to explore how Western Canada’s transportation system can be strengthened to better move the region’s products to global markets. Premiers called for a federal contribution of $1 to $1.5 billion to support and enhance essential port and transportation infrastructure.

Boulevard Transportation Group, a division of Watt Consulting Group founded by President Mike Skene in 2000, was featured in a video on community involvement. Recipient of the 2014 Community Award from the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia, Mike is co-founder of a First Nations Youth Center in Duncan, BC and actively involved in charity fundraising events.
