Delcan Corporation has been acquired by Parsons Corporation, one of the largest transportation planning, engineering and construction firms in the world. Over its 60-year history, Delcan has been providing high-quality transportation solutions within the rail and transit, road and highway, structures, water, freight and intelligent transportation systems markets. “Delcan will now be able to enhance its service through Alternative Project Delivery methods by providing equity contributions and construction services to the design, build, operations and maintenance aspects,” said Jim Kerr, Chief Executive Officer of Delcan.

GENIVAR Inc. is now WSP. The firm provides services to transform the built environment and to restore the natural environment, and its expertise ranges from environmental remediation to urban planning, to designing sustainable transport networks. “We are WSP, a home-grown Canadian multinational with a global market leadership position that ranks us in the top 10 in the world. We are now active in more than 35 countries,” said Pierre Shoiry, President and Chief Executive Officer of WSP. 

Metrolinx plans to access public transit funds announced by the province of Ontario for the regional transportation plan, The Big Move, adopted in 2008 by the Metrolinx Board. Developed through intensive public consultation and collaboration with key stakeholders, municipal leaders and professionals, this mega 25-year, $50 billion plan will transform regional transportation across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. Over the next 10 years, the province of Ontario will set up a fund with up to $15 billion for investment transit in this region.
