Transoft Solutions Inc., a global leader in transportation engineering design solutions, acquired Simtra AeroTech AB, a leading supplier of software for airport and road designers.

Both companies are pioneers in the transportation industry with CAD-based software solutions. “Our goal in merging the two brands is to leverage our resources in order to raise the benchmark for aviation software,” said Milton Carrasco, President and CEO of Transoft Solutions Inc.

The Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships (CCPPP) endorses the Government of Canada’s decision to build a new bridge for the St. Lawrence as a public-private partnership, recognizing the critical importance of the Champlain Bridge as a $20-billion annual trade corridor and vital transportation artery for Quebec and Canada. CCPPP promotes innovative approaches to infrastructure development and service delivery through P3s with all levels of government.

Twelve multi-national companies from seven countries met in Paris on January 20 to inaugurate the International Transport Forum’s new Corporate Partnership Board. PTV Group, software provider and consulting for traffic, transport logistics and geomarketing, will serve as one of the four elected steering committee members. The new partnership board will include expert knowledge from corporations and in transport-related areas for policy analysis.

The Government of Alberta has hired three engineering firms to study flood mitigation options for the Athabasca and Red Deer Rivers. Golder Associates Ltd., IBI Group and Stantec Consulting Ltd. will consult local communities throughout the assessment process. Proposed flood mitigation projects are evaluated based on impacts on water management downstream, risk-reduction structure types and locations, impacts on property values, and relocation of utilities.

British Columbia Transportation and Infrastructure presented a Deputy Minister’s Consulting Engineering Award in Construction Management and Supervision to McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. for the Highway 5/Clearwater Valley Road intersection improvement project. H5M, a joint venture between Hatch Mott MacDonald and MMM Group, won in Design and Contract Preparation – Roads for the Port Mann/Highway 1 Cape Horn Interchange project.
