Join us! TAC’s Workforce Development Council is looking for new committee members

Thursday, May 27, 2021

TAC’s Workforce Development Council supports the development of a skilled, interdisciplinary workforce for Canada’s transportation sector. To help tackle a long list of important topics and actions, the Council recently created three new committees:

  • The Education Committee will help the transportation sector create the future employees it needs to thrive. It will support post-secondary transportation-related programs and curricula, foster student awareness of careers in transportation, promote student involvement in TAC, and encourage the use of TAC products as teaching tools.
  • The Human Resources Committee will help TAC member organizations improve their practices in employee recruitment, hiring, compensation, retention, and retirement; employee diversity, equity, and inclusion; and employee health, wellness, and satisfaction.
  • The Professional Development Committee will help TAC member organizations support employees through continuing education (technical and non-technical), knowledge management, mentoring, and young professional awareness of and involvement in TAC.

Any employee of a TAC member organization can join these committees, which will meet several times a year and conduct most of their business online. Contact us to be added to a roster, or to ask a question.

Note that each committee also needs volunteers to become Chair, Vice-Chair and Secretary. These Executive roles are a great opportunity to practice leadership skills, build your network, and give back to the profession. Let us know if you’re interested.

And if technology isn’t your thing, remember that TAC has five other councils and 20 other committees you can join. For more information, see TAC’s website.
