ISL Engineering and Land Services (ISL) has enhanced its service offerings to support the environmental, cultural, and economic effects of infrastructure projects in their communities. A dedicated hydrogeology team, the addition of a heritage services group, and the addition of a specialist in integrated project delivery methodologies will address client and community need and support ISL’s planning and design teams delivering local transportation and infrastructure projects.
ISL’s hydrogeology team delivers practical, concise solutions. These solutions include developing new and improved groundwater sources, groundwater monitoring and protection, dewatering, and regulatory compliance. Part of ISL’s Water and Environment group, the hydrogeology team works with all of ISL’s engineering and environmental teams to solve hydrogeological challenges.
ISL created a Heritage Services group to respectfully preserve community heritage. ISL’s new team works with Indigenous Nations and communities, engineers, architects, and planners to provide timely heritage information and technical advice. The team is part of ISL’s Environmental Management group with services that include archaeological assessment, monitoring, experienced technical advice, and reporting.
ISL grew its project delivery offerings by successfully including the Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) approach. IPD is a collaborative, integrated, values-based approach to seeking efficiency throughout all project stages. ISL has expertise working on, and coaching clients through, the IPD method. In completing the Drayton Valley Raw Water Pump Station, ISL delivered the first municipal infrastructure project in North America grounded in this project delivery method.
ISL celebrates 35 years of infrastructure solutions in 2022. Started in 1987 to deliver transportation and municipal engineering solutions in Edmonton, ISL now includes a robust array of professional planning and design services, available from 14 locations across Western Canada.
