Integrated Committee on Climate Change Activities

Thursday, June 1, 2017

Reporting to TAC’s councils, the Integrated Committee on Climate Change (ICCC) provides a centre of expertise within TAC on climate change issues, adaptation, greenhouse gas reduction initiatives to mitigate climate change, and resilient transportation infrastructure and services.

The current membership of 20 includes individuals representing a broad cross-section of areas of expertise. TAC’s councils have assigned representatives to the committee, which is critical to fulfilling the expectation that the ICCC will work to embed climate change considerations across TAC’s committee structure.

With their terms of reference approved in April 2017, the ICCC established four priorities for the next two years:

  • Compile information about climate change issues in transportation with the objective to inform in a technical, non-advocacy capacity;
  • Develop a listing of active organizations addressing climate change issues in Canada to understand the current status of the work in this area;
  • Organize TAC conference sessions; and
  • Engage academia and students working on climate change research projects relevant to transportation.

The ICCC meets during TAC’s Spring and Fall Technical Meetings. The next meeting will take place on Friday, September 22 in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador before the 2017 TAC Conference & Exhibition. TAC members who have interest and expertise in climate change matters are encouraged to attend the meeting.
