$72,879.68 - $95,682.25 annually plus 6.5% Recruitment and Retention Adjustment (plus $32.89 Bi-weekly Isolation Allowance for Smithers)

The Senior Geotechnical Engineer supervises the delivery of professional design services for Geotechnical and Materials Engineering. This role directs and oversees design projects providing oversight on the procurement of consultants/sub-consultants, contractors, and specialty services for design work, setting terms of reference, overseeing proposal evaluations, recommending contract awards, and ensuring contracting policy and procedures are followed. The Senior Geotechnical Engineer also leads and participates on provincial and/or program committees, contributing technical and professional expertise to the development of policy and standards.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Experience leading the analysis, development, and implementation of Geotechnical and Materials design solutions for deep and shallow foundation systems.
  • Project management experience in infrastructure planning, field investigation, design and/or construction for geotechnical projects.
  • Registered, or eligible for registration in British Columbia with EGBC.
  • Minimum 5 years’ Licensed Professional experience (not including Engineer-in-Training status years) directly related to Geotechnical Engineering in the Transportation industry.
  • Degree in Geological, Geotechnical or Civil (specialized in Geotechnical Engineering) Engineering or equivalent as recognized by Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
  • Experience directing and overseeing design projects, including but not limited to:
    • providing oversight on the procurement of consultants/sub-consultants, contractors and specialty testing services in support of design work,
    • setting terms of reference or preparing technical proposals,
    • preparing and reviewing contract special provision documents.
  • Experience with pile load testing including an understanding of the principles behind Pile Driving Analysis (PDA) testing.
  • Possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.
