Duties

  • Contribute to a variety of strategic transportation planning projects covering all modes of travel, such as travel demand forecasting, traffic microsimulation, transportation policy, transportation master plans, complete streets planning, design and implementation, and transit planning and operations
  • Project management/coordination and team leadership for various projects and clients
  • Contribute to the career development of early and mid-career staff, including execution of research and technical analysis, training, coaching and mentoring in the culture of a learning organization
  • Write proposals and support other marketing and administrative efforts
  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees
  • Contribute to technical leadership within the firm
  • Travel for business to other Dillon offices upon request

Qualifications

  • A degree in urban planning or civil engineering; a Master’s Degree would be an asset
  • Qualified to practice in Ontario, Manitoba, or Nova Scotia as a Professional Engineer, Registered Professional Planner, or eligible to be qualified within six months
  • Five (5) to fifteen (15) years of professional experience
  • Demonstrated abilities in multidisciplinary project teamwork and coordination
  • Well-developed report writing, organization and interpersonal skills

Experience

Your professional experience will have provided you with particular strength in one or more of the following:

  • Expert knowledge in transportation demand forecasting studies – transportation modelling skills will be critical to the position, including proficiency in the use of macro and microscopic transportation models. Practical application of the following software will be considered when reviewing candidates:
    • Macro Model platforms: EMME, VISUM, TransCAD, AIMSUN
    • Micro Model platforms: VISSIM, Paramics, AIMSUN
    • Meso Model Platforms: AIMSUN
    • Intersection performance software: Synchro, SIDRA
    • GIS software
  • Transportation master plans, area transportation plans and/or secondary plans for medium and large communities/developments
  • Environmental assessment studies for municipal and provincial transportation facilities
  • Long range/strategic transit planning and operational reviews
  • Multi-modal analysis and evaluation

We are currently seeking candidates for the positions of Multi-Modal Transportation Modeller in our Toronto, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Oakville, London or Halifax offices.

The Integrated Mobility Team undertakes transportation planning and engineering work, providing advice to government and private sector clients on sustainable transportation systems,  street and highway design studies, people and goods movement, parking system planning and design studies, transportation, street network optimisation, infrastructure issues related to multi-modal access and use (complete streets), and supporting land development proposals through the planning and engineering process.
