Duties

The Manager, Transit Technology and Innovation is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to the Transportation Service Department for technology projects and operational support systems for transit service that are highly complex and interconnected, essential to reliable transit service, of a multi-million dollar value, normally extend over multiple years and may require extensive internal coordination or public consultation.

The Manager is responsible to establish and maintain positive client relationships with internal and external management and stakeholders. In particular, the Manager manages major contracts with several vendors who supply the operational systems and represents OC Transpo in discussions with the City's Information Technology Systems and Information Security and Digital Risk service areas.

Qualifications

Four (4) year honours univerisity degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Business or Public Administration, or a relevant, related discipline that would include courses in project planning and management.

Eight (8) years of related and progressively responsible experience in organizing information technology project planning, implementation and reporting activities, including a minimum of 4 years in the management of human resources and external contract resources, and the management of operating and capital budgets; preferably in a municipal or transportation setting.

*Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
