Early Career Integrated Mobility Planner/Engineer

Duties

  • Contribute to a variety of strategic transportation planning projects covering all modes of travel, such as transportation policy, demand forecasting, transportation master plans, transit planning and operations, active transportation and transportation demand management, complete streets planning, design and implementation
  • Contribute to proposals and support other marketing and administrative efforts
  • Attend meetings with senior staff and liaise with various private and public sector clients and sub-consultants
  • Contribute to Dillon’s office culture and corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees
  • Travel as required to support project needs

Qualifications

  • A degree in urban planning, civil engineering or equivalent; a Master’s Degree would be an asset
  • One (1) to two (2) years of professional experience
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Excel, including some basic programing skills
  • Demonstrated abilities in multidisciplinary project teamwork and coordination
  • Well-developed report writing, organization and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated abilities in use of GIS software (ArcView GIS) is an asset
  • Valid driver’s license

Experience

The qualified candidate should be able to demonstrate a strong interest and knowledge in one of more of the following:

  • Integrated mobility / transportation policy development
  • Strategic transit planning and operations studies
  • Integration of land use, transportation, and urban design analysis
  • Travel demand forecasting and modelling, including working knowledge of:
    • Macro Model platforms: EMME, VISUM, TransCAD;
    • Micro Model platforms: VISSIM;
    • Meso Model Platforms: AIMSUN; and/or
    • Intersection performance software: Synchro, SIDRA
  • Rapid transit corridor reviews
  • Active Transportation and TDM programs and infrastructure
  • Multi-modal analysis and evaluation
  • Transportation master plans, area transportation plans and/or secondary plans for medium and large communities/developments
  • Public and agency consultation activities, including Public Open Houses/Information Centres and development of other engagement activities

We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Early Career Multi-Modal Transportation Planner/ Engineer in to join our Integrated Mobility team in our Toronto, Oakville or Ottawa office. 

The Integrated Mobility Team undertakes transportation planning and engineering work, providing advice to government and private sector clients on sustainable transportation systems,  street and highway design studies, people and goods movement, parking system planning and design studies, transportation, street network optimisation, infrastructure issues related to multi-modal access and use (complete streets), and supporting land development proposals through the planning and engineering process.
