District Operations Manager

Salary $76,200.06 - $105,700.02 annually

1 position is available in Prince George and 1 position is available in Terrace.

The primary function of the District is to ensure the safe and efficient movement of goods, service and people in a given geographic area.  The District administers the road and bridge maintenance agreements, snow avalanche programs, development approvals, portions of the rehabilitation program, commercial vehicle safety enforcement program, and provides support for the capital program. 
 

The Operations Manager reports to the District Manager and is responsible for the day- to-day operation of road and bridge maintenance. The position ensures that roads and bridges are maintained in accordance with the maintenance agreement between the contractor and the province, through a program of quality audits. This position works with considerable independence in a dynamic environment where change is constant and requires rapid, sound responses. The Operations Manager interacts with a wide variety of officials within various levels of governments, the highway private sector, communities and special interest groups. The Operations Manager is expected to demonstrate creativity in developing innovative ways for improving the highway system and is responsible for determining the goals and objectives of the maintenance program.


Qualifications for this role include:

  • Secondary School Graduation or GED and Minimum of 7 years public or private sector experience OR;
  • Graduation from a Technical Institute in a related field of study* and a minimum of 5 years public or private sector experience OR;
  • Graduation from a University in a related field of study* Civil Engineering, Forestry, Resource Management, Business Administration, Urban or Regional Planning or equivalent. Minimum 3 years public or private sector experience OR;
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Must hold and maintain Class 5 British Columbia Driver’s License.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with direct transportation related experience including contract management, project delivery, road and bridge construction and emergency response.
