We are currently seeking a Civil Engineering Technician or Technologist to join our Transportation team.  The ideal candidate will have experience and an interest in a range of responsibilities for the delivery of transportation infrastructure, from CAD Design to construction inspection.

  • willing and able to develop working relationships with all involved parties;
  • can be meticulous in their record keeping;
  • are willing to go that extra mile to continue to provide quality service to our clients.

Role Specifics

At the outset, we are hoping the individual that fills this role will produce drawings based on mark-ups, red-lines and sketches prepared by technical staff; however, there is a lot of room to grow in this position. With experience and mentoring, we expect the team member to be able to start drawings from concepts with limited oversight from our engineers and senior technicians, provide support in quantity calculations and provide input in tender packages. The candidate will also provide construction inspection support to help manage the implementation of our designs.

The team focuses largely on road design across the Greater Toronto Area and beyond. Projects are variable and range from small road improvements to large scale regional road improvements.  The team assists clients on projects from concept to completion.

This is a fantastic opportunity to further develop in a career in transportation and civil engineering by joining a dynamic team that takes on challenging projects and provides excellent rewards and benefits in return.

The position will involve (but is not limited to) carrying out the following tasks, and includes:

  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation to design and produce functional, preliminary and detailed design drawings for all classes of roads, sewer and watermain projects;
  • Production of detailed engineering drawings including plan, profile, and section drawings;
  • Proactively advance design techniques and procedures to support designers, project managers and technicians;
  • Prepare cost estimates, quantities, and tender packages;
  • Prepare necessary reports including calculations;
  • Conduct on-site reviews and coordinate work with the client and contractor;
  • Review of construction progress for general conformance with approved drawings and specifications for various project types;
  • Liaise with governing authorities and third-party agencies as required;
  • Prepare site inspection reports and stakeholder meeting minutes;
  • Review monthly contractor progress claims;
