WESTAC (Western Transportation Advisory Council)

Established in 1973, WESTAC (Western Transportation Advisory Council) is a not-for-profit, non-partisan organization composed of organizations with a stake in the Western Canadian transportation system. It is a forum where senior leaders of these organizations join to explore Western transportation issues that are important to Canada’s economic well-being. WESTAC acts as a convener, facilitator and catalyst for change. Members span the modes and sectors: carriers, logistics providers, shippers, ports and terminals, labour unions, and the three levels of government.
WESTAC has established itself as a trusted organization which helps guide and facilitate dialogue between government, labour and industry on broad, strategic issues. It does this through activities such as bi-annual member forums, smaller roundtables, the annual survey of transportation executives, and issue-specific research projects.
As a result of a retirement, WESTAC is seeking a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organization into the future and support member’s shared objectives to support trade and make improvements to the Western Canadian transportation system. The CEO must be equipped to support these discussions, while being responsive to member's evolving priorities.
You are a highly skilled communicator and facilitator, who is confident and comfortable in front of very senior executive leaders, and have the maturity, presence, and political acumen to develop cooperation and collaboration across a diverse group of stakeholders. You are balanced in your perspective with no perceived or actual bias to any stakeholder group or political party and brings strong credibility with senior leaders in labour, government and industry organizations. You may have experience with an international trade organization, industry association, union, transportation/supply chain company or government organization.
