It's Easy Being "Green"

The TAC Conference & Exhibition makes every effort to be “Green” and we encourage our delegates to do their part.

Here’s what we are doing:

  1. Planning the Conference & Exhibition to minimize negative impacts on the environment by conserving and reusing resources, reducing and recycling waste, and reducing and offsetting carbon emissions.
  2. Purchasing credits to offset attendee emissions.

The following statements reflect the environmentally friendly approaches used in each aspect of planning and executing TAC's 2023 Conference & Exhibition.

Communication & Registration
  • Electronic/digital formats are preferred and will be used as much as possible.
  • When print material or signage is needed, it will be produced on recycled paper/lower impact material (cardboard instead of plastic), and be recycled or reused (e.g. lanyards and badge holders) afterward.
  • Conference-branded promotional giveaways (e.g. bags, folders, bottles) are no longer produced.

Exhibition

Exhibitors are asked to minimize what they ship to the event to reduce emissions and packaging, as well as to review their onsite practices to reduce waste. Reusable packaging of display and collateral materials is encouraged.

Food & Beverage
  • Reusable utensils, plates, cups, etc. will be used instead of disposable or single-use items. (Some sustainable practices may require adjustment due to COVID-19 hygiene requirements.)
  • Food selections consider sustainability, including emphases on local, organic and vegetarian; used food should be composted.
  • Delegates are encouraged to bring their own refillable water bottle and filling stations will be made available.

"Left-overs"

 Surplus food, materials, or products will be donated locally; unusable items will be recycled locally. Items that can be reused may be shipped to another location.

Transportation & Reducing Emissions
  • Conference hotels, sessions, events, and meetings are located within walking distance of each other. Active transportation, mass transit or shuttle use is encouraged for attendees traveling to other parts of the city.
  • TAC will ship as little as possible. When printed material is required, efforts will be made to print these local to the event.
  • TAC will budget to purchase carbon offsets for the event. This cost is covered, in part, thanks to the support of TAC's sponsors.
