Mission: to facilitate training/education activities and dialogue which provide opportunities to share solutions to the public works challenges of small cities and rural communities.
Federation of Canadian Municipalities
Northern Communities Forum
Mandate: to identify, research and develop policies on issues of interest or concern to municipal governments in northern Canada.
Rural Forum
Mandate: to provide greater accessibility to FCM for rural Canadian municipal governments, and to concentrate advocacy efforts for a strong Canada by ensuring that there is a strong Canadian rural sector.
National Guide to Sustainable Municipal Infrastructure
The Guide is both a new, national network of people and a growing collection of published best practice reports for use by decision-makers and technical personnel in the public and private sectors. Based on Canadian experience and research, the reports set out the best practices to support sustainable municipal infrastructure decisions and actions in six key areas: 1) municipal roads and sidewalks, 2) potable water, 3) storm and wastewater, 4) decision making and investment planning, 5) environmental protocols and 6) transit.
Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities
Mission - The Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities will act professionally and competently in providing services and support to meet the demands and expectations of its member municipalities.
The Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA)
The Rural Ontario Municipal Association has, for decades, ensured that matters that affect rural communities are brought to the attention of the provincial and federal governments. Issues which are currently before ROMA include, intensive livestock operations, nutrient management, rural schools, commodity prices, farm taxation, economic development, roads, bridges and infrastructure, a new Municipal Act, and ambulance services in rural Ontario.
