Transportation Analyst

As the Transportation Analyst in the Development/Transportation Engineering Department you will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring transportation planning projects and programs; preparing engineering designs, plans and reports; review and update City standards. You will analyze transportation data, compile statistical records and perform field inspection duties in the area of transportation engineering.  Review and comment on transportation issues at all stages of proposed developments; review and coordinate special projects including the preparation of Terms of Reference.  In addition, you will coordinate and oversee the work activities of assigned technical staff. 

QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications and experience: Community College Diploma in a three year Civil Engineering Technology program.  Fully Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation in good standing in the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technologists and Technicians.  Minimum of three years transportation engineering experience, preferably in a municipal environment and including one year experience coordinating the work of others; OR University Degree in Civil Engineering. Eligible and working towards full membership in the Professional Engineers of Ontario.  Minimum of two years transportation engineering experience, preferably in a municipal environment.

In addition, you will be proficient in the application of computer software programs related to areas of municipal servicing, project engineering/planning, transportation engineering/planning or project coordination and administration in accordance with job responsibilities. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical/interpretive, and oral and written communication skills.  Ability to deal courteously and effectively with internal staff, external agencies, public, consultants, developers, builders and contractors, etc. Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other relevant Provincial statutes and regulations, in accordance with job responsibilities. Valid Class “G” Ontario driver’s licence in good standing with a reliable vehicle to utilize on City business when required.
