TAC has established an Educational Achievement Award to recognize outstanding contributions by a TAC member in the area of education and/or training relating to an in-house or external program, which has one or more noteworthy elements of innovation, demonstrable payoff, widespread recognition, improved skills sets, improved practices, or providing the foundation for future and better business practices of the member or the transportation community in general.
The award is open to all members of TAC, and their respective staff including all individual members, private companies, public sector agencies, academic institutions and related transportation organizations. The establishment of this award reflects TAC's commitment to the importance of education and training of its constituency. It is also meant to showcase outstanding achievements, to recognize those responsible and to provide an incentive for others in the transportation community.
Any TAC member, through their official representative, may make a nomination. The nomination should clearly describe the initiative and explain how it is an innovative or otherwise unique contribution to education and training within and/or external to the member's organization, the key individual(s) involved, the major tasks or activities, the outcomes and benefits. Any other aspects considered to support the award should also be described.
Please note the deadline for submissions has been changed from March 22 to March 28 at 12:00 Eastern Time. Your March 28 submission must consist of an electronic file in PDF format. The submission, with appendices if applicable, should be e-mailed to:
A selection committee, composed of members of TAC's Education and Human Resources Development Council will evaluate all submissions and make recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding the award. Each nomination will be evaluated on the basis of:
- Contribution made to the education/training of the people involved in the program;
- Degree of innovation in the approach and execution of the program;
- Payoff or benefits achieved; and
- Overall applicability to improved practices, better skills sets and to the Canadian transportation community as a whole.
The award is normally given annually based on the recommendation of the Evaluation Panel and endorsement of TAC's Education & Human Resources Development Council, and will be presented at the TAC Conference. The award recipient(s) will be featured in an upcoming edition of TAC News.
