CTAP Awards

RECOGNIZE THE TRANSPORTATION INDUSTRY'S BEST PLAYERS!

The Canadian Transportation Awards Program is intended to recognize leadership, excellence and achievement in all modes and segments of the transport sector. If you know someone who has made an outstanding contribution to transportation in Canada, this is your opportunity to ensure that this individual is considered for the industry's most prestigious awards!

Nominations for the 2012 awards must be received no later than May 25.

An independent panel of judges representing the air, rail, marine and road modes will select the award winners. The panel reserves the right to recommend that a nomination made under a given category be changed to another category.

Winners will be notified in sufficient time to make travel arrangements to attend the October 17 TAC banquet in Fredericton at which the awards will be presented. Sponsors will also be advised if their nominees are selected. Travel expenses are the responsibility of the recipient, employer or sponsor.

The CTAP program is administered by the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC).

Nominations are solicited for the following five award categories in 2012:

  • Transportation Person of the Year
  • Award of Excellence (up to two awards)
  • Award of Achievement (up to two awards)
  • Award of Academic Merit (up to two awards)
  • Citation for Lifetime Achievement in Transportation, Policy and Decision-Making (awarded at the discretion of the jury)

Canada's Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities or the Minister's alternate will confer the awards during the closing banquet of TAC's 2012 Annual Conference and Exhibition in Fredricton, October 14 to 17.

Eligibility

To be eligible for any of the awards, nominees must be involved in transportation or in an activity closely related to the industry. The nominee's responsibilities must somehow contribute to the movement of people or goods. Although nominees will generally be working in the industry, recent retirees will also be considered.

Nominees for Transportation Person of the Year must not have received the award when it was conferred by National Transportation Week.

The awards are conferred at the discretion of the CTAP Awards jury and as a result, some of the awards may not be conferred in any particular year.
