I am truly excited that Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation (MIT) will be hosting the 2013 Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) Conference & Exhibition, September 22-25 in Winnipeg. It is an honour to welcome our colleagues and industry stakeholders to what I am sure will be an extraordinary exploration of sustainable transportation concepts.

Transportation is the cornerstone of Manitoba’s continually expanding role as a continental distribution gateway for international commerce in the global markets of the 21st century. We are proud of the many initiatives underway to strengthen our transportation sector and successfully exploit our competitive advantages to support economic growth.  We are eager to have an opportunity to share an overview of these activities with conference attendees.

MIT promises an informative and entertaining assortment of venues, events and activities that will make the trip to Manitoba more than worthwhile.  In concert with the City of Winnipeg, we look forward to presenting a strong technical program focused on this year’s theme, Transportation: Better – Faster – Safer and invite you to attend.  Volunteers are busy organizing conference sessions, panels and workshops, planning technical tours, coordinating a diverse local showcase and doing everything possible to make it a memorable and rewarding experience.  We look forward to informative exchanges as well as opportunities to highlight the diversity and culture of our Province.
