The Canadian navy’s response to the disastrous earthquake in Haiti earlier this year will be the topic of a presentation at the President’s Luncheon. The talk will be given by Captain(N) Art McDonald, commander of the Canadian Forces’ Fifth Maritimes Operations Group. At the Annual Luncheon, the most recently designated UNESCO world heritage site in Canada – Nova Scotia’s Joggins Fossil Cliffs – will come to life. Joggins Fossil Institute director Jenna Boon will help delegates experience this natural wonder with a presentation that will take them “from the carboniferous to carbon neutral”.

Earlier in the conference week, the Awards Luncheon will be a festive occasion during which the association’s honours and awards will be conferred. Key supporters will also be acknowledged at this event.

The TAC conference also features a series of complimentary tours offered on a first-come, first-served basis. They will begin on Sunday, September 26 with a delegate / companion sightseeing tour of Halifax.

During the course of the week, delegates will have an opportunity to take part in tours of multi-modal transportation facilities, a snowmelter manufacturing plant, three roundabouts in operation or under construction, a new state-of-the-art transit centre, the Port of Halifax, waste processing and materials recovery facilities and a Canadian warship.
