The Opening Plenary Session, Lions’ Den’s second edition, will focus on the 2013 conference theme, Transportation: Better – Faster – Safer. Presentations will highlight innovative programs, products or services for creating a more sustainable transportation system in tune with the conference theme.

The Lions’ Den’s format will provide an interactive platform to present the Opening Plenary Session to conference attendees. As a result, TAC delegates will broaden their knowledge of the transportation and road-related sectors.

ABOUT THE LIONS’ DEN

The Lions’ Den features four key groups of participants.

1. Presenters will pitch concepts to the lions to obtain support for implementation in their organizations. They can achieve this goal by striking a deal with one or all members of the Lions’ Den. Presentations will not be seen by the lions prior to the Opening Plenary Session. However, they will be pre-screened by a peer review committee, must meet specific TAC criteria and submit a business plan within an established deadline.

2. Lions will listen and evaluate presentations made on behalf of each organization. They may choose to support or reject it. The jury’s final decision can be made independently or as a team. Their objective is to engage presenters by evaluating if concepts should be implemented at an organizational level.

3. Pre-selected audience members may overrule the jury’s decision at the end of the presentation, if they do not agree with the end result. Their objective is to challenge the lions to ensure efficient results are implemented in each presenting organization.

4. You! Viewers will have the opportunity to vote for each presenter in real time by the use of an electronic audience response system to confirm your thoughts on the presentation.
