TAC Foundation McMaster Program Announced at TAC 2014 Conference

The Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) Foundation launched a major program of graduate studies at McMaster University at the 2014 TAC Conference & Exhibition in September.

Over the course of the next five years, five (5) scholarships worth $15,000 each will be available annually to students whose studies are focused on transportation engineering. Recipients will be selected by the University.

These TAC Foundation and Esch Foundation Ontario Graduate Scholarships were made possible by the generosity of the Esch Foundation.  Established in 2004 by Mr. Norman Edward Blake Esch, this organization directly supports the development of students receiving training within the interdisciplinary applications of Engineering Sciences.

The goals of the Esch Foundation include supporting creative and entrepreneurial students in the pursuit of research and development, and its commercialization for the benefits of Canada.

“We are very grateful to the Esch Foundation for extending its generosity to include support for the mandate and objectives of the TAC Foundation,” noted Brian Henderson Executive Director of the TAC Foundation.

Through his work with historic Canadian companies like Graphic Lithoplate, Rota-tone and Phipps Reproduction, Mr. Esch played a major role in shaping the direction of Toronto's printing market. He founded Graphic Litho-Plate and owned Roto-tone Gravure, along with many other smaller companies. Mr. Esch passed away on August 25, 2010 at the age of 92.

Organizations interested in working with the TAC Foundation to support its scholarships, or other programs are invited to contact foundation@tac-atc.ca or call Executive Director, Brian Henderson, at (416) 225-6744.
