This periodic column features notices from people working in the transportation and road-related industries.

  • The Honourable Al Hawkins has been appointed Minister of Newfoundland and Labrador Transportation and Works.
  • The Honourable Wally Schumann has replaced Tom Beaulieu as Transportation Minister in the Northwest Territories.
  • The Honourable Jacques Daoust has replaced Robert Poëti as Quebec Minister of Transport, also responsible for Sustainable Mobility and Transportation Electrification.
  • Johanne Bray is the new Deputy Minister of public safety in New Brunswick.
  • Stephen Rhodes will become Deputy Minister of Transportation, Ontario effective February 27, 2016, replacing Carol Layton who is retiring on January 22. John Lieou will become interim deputy minister until Mr. Rhodes takes office.
  • Lester Deane is the new Director of Public Works at the City of Winnipeg.
  • Tara Liske has replaced Said Kass as Director of the Materials Engineering Branch at Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation.  
  • Effective February 29, 2016, Fred Cummings will become Hatch’s Infrastructure Division Manager, Western North America.
  • Peter Nicol has been named President of CH2M’s water business, and will oversee consulting, program management, design, design-build, construction, and operations solutions for government, civil, industrial, and energy clients.
  • Peta Wolmarans and Basse Clemens will lead McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd.’s new Strategic Transportation Planning division, based out of the Vancouver branch.
