McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. seeks a Transportation Engineer/Planner Project Manager to join our Strategic Transportation Planning team in Vancouver, BC. Our team utilizes the latest travel datasets and undertakes rigorous analysis and modelling to help our clients make informed decisions.   • Manage and/or assist on transportation projects from proposal stage through completion of draft and final reports as well as presentation to clients and stakeholders
  • Transportation studies, involving the need and justification for new transportation infrastructure projects, alternatives analysis, demand forecasting, transportation system/network planning and operations, and business casing
  • Prepare technical analysis and report writing
  • Data interpretation and reporting of travel forecasts and capacity analysis, including communication and presentation of findings to clients/stakeholders
  • Knowledge of transportation planning models including EMME, Synchro, SimTraffic, VISSIM, VISUM.
  • Experience in complete streets, network analysis, neighbourhood planning, transportation master plans, active modes, freight and goods movement, transit planning and operations, parking, traffic impact studies, Traffic Management Plans.


·         Degree in Civil Engineering or Planning, with a focus in transportation planning with a minimum 10 years’ experience in a similar role

·         Registration as a P.Eng. or Planning equivalent

·         Proven people, client and project management experience, with ability to lead a project from proposal stage to project deliverables, while guiding and mentoring a team of junior staff

·         Solid understanding of transportation planning concepts and practices, and ability to think out of the box balanced with a strong sense of practicality

·         Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with strong business development acumen

·         General knowledge of relevant transportation planning and traffic engineering policies and standards in Western Canada, as well as policy formulation

·         Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
